They built monumental earthwork ‘forts’ along the rivers and creeks leading into Lake Erie in norhern Ohio from 1200-1650 AD, 1650 being an approximate date when the Five Nations Iroquois Confederacy ran amok wiping out nation after nation, including the Erie and, it seems the Whittlesey.
