My choice for president in 2028, Stephen Colbert, wisely said, “Diplomacy is the Department of Peace.” He was introducing U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas Greenfield, who I will remember for her ‘gumbo diplomacy.’ She figures talking to foreign dignitaries over a bowl of her gumbo will knock down more walls than glad hands and professional smiles.
So ideally in the Gary-centric universe, Ambassador Greenfield will be serving up her gumbo to a table for two, Putin and Zelenskyy. In the real world, that happy meal might be some time off, though not impossible.
I say peace is on the Ukrainian horizon. My reason is Lula and China are all over it. China has an eight point plan which Lula will consult while the newly elected Brazilian president embraces a coalition of like minded independent thinking countries in what he calls a Peace Panel. His intention is to sit down with both sides. So if Lula invites Ms Greenfield, my ideal would come true, if and only if she brings the okra.
