Experts who were Republicans but now exist in some political limbo state, agree since 1964 the Republican Party has been galloping further and further to the right. They point out things have gotten so bad, there’s not much room before the party hits straight up Fascism. They blame Fox News Network for lying to their audience and creating this deadly schism in our society.
In The New Republic’s cover story they also predict Tucker Carlson will run for president from his lofty position as Fox’s main mouthpiece, but we know how that worked out. With Tucker tucked away in some silent room of his own making, the odds are heavily against that happening. As they say, Tucker has proven himself to be a coward, believing that Trump’s election denying was bull shit, yet touting it full throttle to the loyal and enthusiastic Fox viewers.
In the cover story of the The New Republic’s latest issue, specially selected Republican experts all laughed when asked if the Republican Party could be saved. The Republican experts interviewed by Michael Tomasky are Michael Steele, Juleanna Glover, Nicola Wallace and Max Boot. Tomasky started off asking if the Republican Party “as currently constituted is salvageable?” There was general laughter then Max Boot answered, “Salvageable for parts.” In fact, that outcome was obvious by the title: “The Party’s Over”.
These four are anti-MAGA Republicans, which currently appears to put them in the minority. I agree with them and expect any new party they put together to include a large number of conservative democrats. This could create a three-party system that survives the vagaries of one man’s personality as in the Bull Moose Party or whatever party Ross Perot was heading.
These experts are advising us to expect some kind of dissolution of the Republican Party. They mentioned how the Whig Party disappeared in 1850 after a similar build-up of national discontent. If they do break away, it will seriously challenge our status quo as a two-party system. We’ve had other third party intervention in national elections, but this seems different. The MAGA wing is defined now and it is no longer under the control of the moderate Republicans who kept it in check until Trump opened the box and let ‘em scatter. (Who knew they’d find a seat at your Thanksgiving table?)
The break-up of the Republican Party is exciting because it means the break-up of the two-party system in U.S. politics of which this story is a harbinger. It is at times like these that something completely new can emerge. As the two-party system teeters a new wave of something completely different washes through. People will have to ask themselves which side are you on. They choose and then things go on in this new way. But before the new way arrives we need to add another choice rather than the hierarchically oriented political party system.
There’s not enough freedom in the political p[arty system. It doesn’t reflect the Electronic Age we are living in. We need to shape our governance, which is what political parties are designed to do, into something that is compatible with the abilities and responsibilities we have in this Electronic Age. We need to overlay the world with a system of Autonomous Regions under their own Autonomous Administrations. It should look something like an electronic circuit, the Sacred Circuit of Life, based on the Sacred Circle of Life taught us by the first Americans.
I suggest we come up with something better now, before the shift to a three-party (or more) system even begins to solidify into the national political shell. The direction I’m heading is towards a political system of direct democracy, a heterarchical egalitarian system as opposed to a hierarchical one, a bottom-up democracy where power moves up from community cells where power is shared equally and where consensus is sought in all important community determinations.
What I seek is the Autonomous Administration of All America. This is based on the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria or Rojava. Like Rojava it would have no bordered state. It would exist across all borders in America, and reshape itself as local conditions demand. Like Rojava it would be non-patriarchical by constitution and like Rojava, through the Syrian Democratic Forces, it would protect itself from violent religious fanaticism. As we see with the SDF example, other stateless states, like Arab tribes in the Middle East and Indian tribes here in the Americas, will be welcome to join along with new configurations yet to emerge and be defined. There are a growing number of these politically invisible entities and to amalgamate them into the A4 Confederacy would bring order and therefore security to what otherwise can be a chaotic and destructive transition.
In his book For an Amerindian Autohistory Georges E. Sioui wrote, “A Brazilian anthropologist … pointed out in 1979 that ‘the most important phenomenon to appear in the past five years is the ability of certain tribal groups to defend their interests with respect to the state and to organize themselves into larger units that go beyond tribal limits, with a view to creating an identity engendered by a kind of pan-Indianism, itself based on indigenous leadership, either pre-existing or newly created.’” I recommend the A4 Confederacy be the newly created one.
The Republicans are moving further and further to the right. They are skirting and sometimes already overlapping the political edges into Fascism. The New Republic experts agree that Trump has the strongest hold on the Republican Party. They also agree he is taking it into despotism, with him the wielder of absolute power. They agree he has a implacable 30 percent of the party, and they’re pretty sure the Republic Party is heading for a break-up. All this adds up to is a time of action for we who would find a better, global governance system.
When in place the A4 Confederacy would soften the edges that currently exist between neighbors in rural and urban settings. Hatred is drummed up in our current system simply by pitting us against each other. In this we are focused outwardly, to the enemy and all the dastardly things they are planning to do to us and our way of life. In an Autonomous Administration system, the focus is on the community, fulfilling its needs, solving its problems, keeping it safe and sane. When we work together we make all that corporate media manufactured hatred look like what it is, a sinister attempt to keep us warring with each other.
The Autonomous Administration of All America is too big an idea to digest in one gulp. It’s an idea I’m going to keep building on over the coming weeks and months. This is a serious concept and I would really like your input on it. We have to change the way we live in this world and that begins with how we govern ourselves. This is the new wave we’ve been waiting for. This is my part of the action. Let yours be to read what I come up with.
