Seeing signs of peace
It’s beginning to feel like the end is approaching in the continuing massacre of Palestinians in Gaza by the Israeli Defence Force. The first clue came from President Biden’s mouth. While he says he is indefatigably behind Israel, he is now talking about a cease fire. Then there were the food drops and the continuing construction of a make-shift dock where supply ships can step up essential imports of water, food and medicine.
The growing clamor for peace via a cease fire in Palestine is reaching the point of the 100th Monkey where the message transcends obstacles and reaches a critical mass. I recall the motion from our Viet Nam war protest days. Anti-war sentiments reached a critical mass, but we had a crook and a coward in the White House. He ran from us on May Day and continued the war way, way too long.
This new mass is international. Viet Nam war protests were international, too, but not like this. Back in those days we didn’t have the instant connectedness we have today. This connectedness has created its mass and it is unified under one message, peace in Palestine. It demands government actions and its demands are being heard.
