Tainted with glory
my memory of oak trees.
Friends come and go
Families separate with time
but oak tress are forever
the mask of permanence.
So this summer,
this voracious summer
with Covid still about
with heavier rains and closer lightning strikes
shaking our bones
two master oaks have fallen
felled by the winds and the rain
and those lightning strikes that shook…
